Post COVID travel in Oman

The time to reconnect through social, physical and recreational activities.

An abrupt end to the 2020 Spring tourism season in Oman due to the coronavirus pandemic has left a number of tourism operators in the Sultanate looking toward the hopeful reopening and lifting of restrictions for the coming start to the Fall/Autumn season.

The impact has been felt world-wide and many countries are living through the same uncertainty, especially for those who are currently in the middle of their peak season. In Oman the summer signals the low season mainly due to the climate, but some areas have felt the impact, such as Dhofar, the mountains and coastal areas where the Khareef brings annual relief to the soaring temperatures felt elsewhere.

its the ability of providers to manage the risks associated with the virus to ensure activities are suitable for the current and future development of the industry.

The future of tourism in Oman is still uncertain as the summer draws toward an end and still there are major restrictions on domestic and international travel. It seems inevitable that Covid-19 is here to stay, but its the ability of providers to manage the risks associated with the virus to ensure activities are suitable for the current and future development of the industry.

GET Outdoors Oman are looking at measures to meet the guidelines and measures in place, and likely to be in place for the foreseeable future. Our focus for the 2020-2021 season will be domestic tourism first and foremost. As restrictions are lifted, particularly with international travel, we will be welcoming Gulf tourists to the Sultanate, similar to the air-bridge agreements and movement as seen in Europe to try and rekindle tourism in the region.

To ensure we meet the various guidelines provided by the Government, GET have selected various activities and programmes which can accommodate small groups, families and individuals, offering half and full day programmes, plus overnight camping and activities in areas which offer extensive social distancing opportunities. As restrictions lift we have further options available for corporate and school groups. Then is the time for students and work colleagues to reconnect after such a long absence. What better way to do this than through a one or two day outdoor event.

Outdoors Oman offer a range of activities for groups and individuals all of which are the perfect opportunity to reconnect.

Fun days and Team Building events are designed to bring people together, to develop teamwork, leadership, cohesion, new skills and best of all, to have fun!
